Every other Wednesday, 19:00 – 21:00

Quaker House Brussels

Square Ambiorix 50

Would you like to explore issues of race and privilege and what they mean to you? Perhaps you followed the #BrusselsSoWhite discussion after the Politico articles in December, and would like a safe environment to explore these issues further?

QCEA hosts a weekly reading group which addresses these issues in friendly surroundings, just minutes from European institutions. Our group began with a reading of Debby Irving’s 2014 book Waking Up White, and has now expanded to explore wider issues of race and privilege.

In recent months we have also read:

  • What does it mean to be white? Developing white racial literacy by Robin DiAngelo
  • My Grandmother’s Hand: Racialised Trauma and
  • the Pathway to mending our Hearts and Bodies by Resmaa Menakem

The group is open to all, regardless of race, ethnicity or religion – everyone is welcome.

Please register by email if you’d like to take part, by writing to events@qcea.org. Meetings take place on Wednesday evenings at Quaker House in Brussels. We meet every other Wednesday, but the pattern can vary slightly.

Our 2020 dates begin, 8 January, 22 January, 5 February.

We’re looking forward to seeing you!
