QUAKER CONCERNS PAST AND PRESENT

Past work

While our current focus is on migration, climate justice and peace, QCEA has a rich history of advocacy on other critical issues. Though these areas may not be the sole focus of our current programs, their values remain deeply embedded in our approach.

Climate, Peace and Human Rights

The report explores the interconnections between climate, peace, and human rights, calling for any green transition to be based on climate justice, by putting people and not profit at the centre.

Peace
Mediation

The report analyses EU Concept on Peace Mediation, how it has evolved over time and why it is more relevant than ever in today’s context.  It uses Quaker experience in mediation and conciliation for practical guidance.

Gender, Peace and Inclusivity

Since 2000, UN Security Council Resolution 1325 mandates peace and security institutions to integrate gender perspectives. This project emphasises the importance of gender, and how good leadership should look like.

Framing Human Policing

The booklet makes the case that twenty-first century policing should aspire to be the largest human rights profession, backed up by policies which emphasise the universal protections we all enjoy.

Peace Education: Making the Case

The report argues for a multi-layered approach to peace education on the part of the EU, with a cohesive, coordinated strategy for peace education as a peacebuilding and conflict prevention tool.

Helping the Helpers

Helping
the Helpers

This project supported long-term volunteers aiding refugees, focusing on preventing vicarious trauma. Young volunteers across Europe gained psychosocial skills for self-care and mutual support.

Anti-
migrant
Discourse

This report urges action against rising anti-migrant hate speech in Europe. Differing opinions are vital for democracy, but dehumanizing language erodes discourse, fueling hate that may escalate into violence.

Building
Peace
Together

The toolkit explores peacebuilding and provides tools that can be used by various actors. It is aimed at peace practitioners, policymakers, and citizens with a commitment to more peaceful societies.

The European Convention on Human Rights

This publication introduces the reader to the ECHR, the important work that it does via the European Court of Human Rights, and its importance. The booklet emphasises that human rights laws are an attempt to spell out how people should be respected.
