Brown bag lunch with Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme In Israel/Palestine:
providing a protective presence
Description
The World Council of Churches (WCC), is a fellowship of 352 churches in 120 countries, representing 580 million Christians. Since 2002, the WCC has operated the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI); more than 2,000 volunteers from abroad have spent three months in vulnerable Palestinian communities, documented human rights violations, provided protective presence, and carried out awareness raising activities in support of human rights.
A delegation of former EAPPI volunteers from across Europe who have served a three- month term in East Jerusalem from 2022-2025 will be in Brussels for advocacy meetings 1-4 December. During their visit they will meet with MEPs and other European Union officials to share their experiences, raise concerns about the human rights situation in East Jerusalem, and discuss recommendations that the European Union might take to ensure a just resolution to the conflict in Israel/Palestine.
