Nonviolence in action: voices of Palestinian peacebuilders.
With Pax Christi International & Pax Christi Flanders
Description
Join us for a meeting with our Bethlehem partners to hear about their work in the West Bank, where they provide vital, concrete support to communities living under daily occupation.
Speakers
Mr. Zoughbi Alzoughbi – Wi’am Palestinian Conflict Transformation Center
Mr. Roger Salameh – Arab Educational Institute – Pax Christi Bethlehem
Organisations
Wi’am Palestinian Conflict Transformation Center (since 1994) works at both the interpersonal and community levels, promoting reconciliation, dialogue, and conflict resolution among families and neighbourhoods affected by occupation. In addition to providing psychosocial support and counselling, Wi’am organizes educational programs for children, youth, and women, and implements income-generating projects. Its “citizen diplomacy” initiatives foster understanding and collaboration beyond local communities, connecting Palestinian experiences to international peacebuilding networks.
Arab Educational Institute – Pax Christi Bethlehem – Pax Christi (since 1986) promotes interreligious understanding, peace education, and community resilience (sumud). Through its program "Citizenship and Diversity: Christian‑Muslim Living Together", AEI engages around 30 West Bank schools in interreligious education, dialogue, and cultural workshops for students. It also runs initiatives for youth and women at the Sumud Story House and Youth House, and the "Stories on the Wall" project, which shares personal narratives from communities living near the separation wall, fostering understanding and cooperation through nonviolence.
Please note that this meeting will follow the Chatman House Rule: all discussions, materials, and ideas shared will remain confidential.
