Peace Programme Director
Olivia serves as Peace Programme Director, leading Quaker peace work with European institutions and member states. In this role Olivia engages at a senior level with the European Union, NATO, national governments and a range of other peacebuilders and international organisations. Olivia convenes a wide range of quiet diplomacy processes and policy discussions that address some of Europe’s most challenging policy questions.
Olivia is an active participant in policy discussions in Brussels and internationally, regularly speaking on panels and events. Olivia is deeply committed to incorporating the gender dimension of conflict prevention and peacebuilding into all of QCEA’s work. Olivia currently serves as Treasurer of the European Peacebuilding Liaison Office steering committee, and serves on their programme oversight group.
At QCEA, she deputies for the Director in a range of strategic, partnership and team leadership roles. Olivia joined QCEA in October 2016 following more than ten years experience in peacebuilding. Olivia previously worked as the Special Assistant to the United Nations Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel, based in Dakar. Her prior work at the United Nations headquarters includes experience at the United Nations University looking at issues such as modern slavery and crimes against humanity, as well as at the Peacebuilding Support Office and the Policy Committee Secretariat at the Executive Office of the Secretary-General.
Her policy work in conflict prevention includes work for the International Crisis Group and the Enough Project in Kenya and the Democratic Republic of the Congo respectively. Olivia is bilingual in English and French and is fluent in Spanish.
